Subway and rail service changes: April 5-8, 2024

There are service changes on the subway and LIRR this weekend. Here's how that will affect how you get around.
Updated April 5, 2024 12:00 p.m.

Happy April! We're excited for Monday's solar eclipse, and while the New York City area isn't in the path of totality, we'll still see a partial eclipse across our area—as much as 90% coverage in Poughkeepsie. If you're planning on traveling around our area to view the eclipse or attend an event, the MTA can get you there.

Riders between Manhattan and Queens this weekend take note:  and  trains aren't running  between Manhattan and Queens while we work on accessibility upgrades at Queensboro Plaza. For a one-seat ride between Manhattan and Queens, take  trains or the LIRR, which will accommodate subway riders at no additional cost between Manhattan and Queens. This weekend we're also running a special  shuttle train between Times Sq-42 St and 34 St-Hudson Yards. This will be especially useful if you're visiting the New York International Auto Show at the Javits Center. (Be sure to check out our electric bus!)

And a note for Metro-North riders: A new schedule goes into effect on Sunday. We're restoring many changes that took effect in January for work that is now completed and making other minor adjustments to better match your riding patterns. See here for details.
