Subway and rail service changes: September 23-26

There are service changes on the subway, LIRR, and Metro-North this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.
Updated September 23, 2022 10:00 a.m.

Autumn is unequivocally the best season in New York — don't @ us — in part because there are tons of fun things to do in the city and beyond that can be reached via public transit. Farm tours? Yup. Day trips? Sure. A huge festival of jack o' lanterns? Absolutely. Whatever your plans are this fall, we're here to help you get around.

As far as this weekend goes, here are some of the bigger service changes:

  •  trains aren't running between 168 St and Van Cortlandt Park-242 St
  •  trains aren't running between Crown Hts-Utica Av and New Lots Av
  •  trains aren't running to Howard Beach-JFK Airport or the Rockaways
  •  trains aren't running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av
  •  trains aren't running between Jefferson Av and Tottenville

And a reminder for JFK Airport travelers: There will be an AirTrain outage from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday. During that outage, shuttle buses will be running from every airline terminal, as well as from several AirTrain stops. Port Authority has more details on that.

For more detailed breakdowns, keep on scrolling — we’ve also got travel alternatives for stations that will be closed or skipped.
