Subway and rail service changes: October 28-31

There are service changes on the subway, LIRR, and Metro-North this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.
Updated October 28, 2022 9:00 a.m.

Happy weekend-before-Halloween! If you're going to party this weekend and are still searching for a costume, may we suggest something transit-themed? DIY a MetroCard costume with a yellow t-shirt and blue tape. Make a cardboard sign imploring people not to litter and don some cat ears to go as Etti-Cat. Or take inspiration from some incredibly creative kids and make a subway car out of cardboard

Whatever you do this weekend, you'll want to know about service changes before you head out. Here's what's going on:

  • There's no  service between Manhattan and Brooklyn
    •  trains aren't running between Chambers St and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College
    •  trains aren't running between 14 St and New Lots Av
  •  trains aren't running between Norwood-205 St and 161 St-Yankee Stadium
  • There's no  service between Manhattan and Queens. Take the   for service between Times Sq-42 St and Queensboro Plaza
  •  trains aren't running between Prospect Park and Coney Island-Stillwell Av
  •  trains are rerouted on the   and   lines in Manhattan
  •  trains aren't running between St. George and Eltingville

And heads up if you're planning on taking LIRR this weekend: No trains are running between Jamaica and Hicksville, and between Jamaica and Hempstead while we finish track work related to the Main Line expansion. The good news is that this will be the final major service change on that section of the railroad this year.

For more detailed breakdowns, keep on scrolling — we’ve also got travel alternatives for stations that will be closed or skipped.

And don't forget to sign up for the MTA Weekender, a newsletter sent every Friday. You'll get these service changes directly in your inbox, with more than enough time to plan your weekend travel. Subscribe here
