Subway and rail service changes: June 16-19

There are service changes on the subway and Metro-North this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.

On Monday, June 19, subways, buses, and railroads will run on a regular weekday schedule in observance of Juneteenth.

This weekend, the 41st Annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade happens along the Coney Island Boardwalk. If you're planning to march in your best sea-themed finery, the   and   trains to Coney Island-Stillwell Av are the way to go.

Here's the goings-on for the end of this week (also viewable as a handy map):

  • Uptown   trains aren't stopping at 14 St
  •  trains aren't running between Bowling Green and Crown Hts-Utica Av
  •  trains aren't running between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester
  •  trains aren't running between Inwood-207 St and 168 St
  • Uptown   trains are running express in most of Manhattan
  •  trains aren't running between Norwood-205 St and 161 St-Yankee Stadium
  • Uptown   trains are running on the   line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to 59 St-Columbus Circle
  • Downtown   trains are running on the   line between Queens and Manhattan
  •  trains aren't running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av
  • Uptown   trains are running on the   line between Manhattan and Queens
  •  trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St

Major subway service changes

 trains, Manhattan

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, uptown   trains are not stopping at 14 St, and all uptown trains are running on the express track from Chambers St to 34 St-Penn Station. This is because of accessibility upgrade work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a downtown train and transfer, or consider using nearby   stations on 8 Av.

 trains, Brookyn

Trains are not running between Bowling Green and Crown Hts-Utica Av in either direction from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station improvement work. For direct service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, take   trains, which will make all   stops in Brooklyn.

  •  trains are running between Woodlawn and Bowling Green.
  •  trains make all   stops in Brooklyn, and will also run overnight.
  • Transfer between   trains at Fulton St, or by taking the 42 St   between Grand Central-42 St and Times Sq-42 St.

 trains, Bronx

Trains are not running between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester in either direction from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement work.

  • Free shuttle buses are running between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester. Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
  •  trains are running between Parkchester and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall.

 trains, Manhattan

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,   trains are not running between 168 St and Inwood-207 St in either direction. This is because of signal improvement work.

  • Free shuttle buses are running on Broadway between 168 St and Inwood-207 St, and on Fort Washington Avenue between 168 St and 190 St. Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
  •  trains are running between 168 St and Far Rockaway/Lefferts Blvd.
  •  trains also make nearby stops between 168 St and 207 St.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, uptown   trains are running on the express track from Canal St to 145 St because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from Spring St, take the  .
  • For service to/from 23 St, take an uptown   train and transfer at 34 St-Penn Station.
  • For service to/from 50 St, take an uptown   train and transfer at 59 St-Columbus Circle.
  • For service to/from stations between 59 St-Columbus Circle and 145 St, take the  , which will make local stops.

 trains, Manhattan and Bronx

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, trains are not running between 161 St-Yankee Stadium and Norwood-205 St in either direction because of structural maintenance work.

  •  trains are running between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and 161 St-Yankee Stadium.
  • For service between 161 St-Yankee Stadium and Bedford Park Blvd, take the  .
  • Norwood-205 St is connected by a free D90 shuttle bus to Mosholu Pkwy  . Transfer between the   and the   at 161 St-Yankee Stadium.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, uptown   trains are running on the   line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to 59 St-Columbus Circle. This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from stations between W 4 St-Wash Sq and 59 St-Columbus Circle, use nearby stations on 8 Av, or take a downtown train and transfer.
  • Uptown   trains will make all   stops from W 4 St-Wash Sq to 59 St-Columbus Circle, and continue making local stops to 145 St.
  • Note: Uptown   trains are running on the   line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av.

 trains, Manhattan and Queens

Manhattan-bound   trains are running on the   line from Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av to W 4 St-Wash Sq from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of electrical work.

  • For service to/from Queens Plaza during the day, take the  . Overnight, take free shuttle buses to/from 21 St-Queensbridge, or use the nearby Queensboro Plaza   station. 
  • For service to/from Court Sq-23 St, take the 
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/53 St, take the   and use the free out-of-system walking transfer at Lexington Av/63 St. 
  • For service to/from 5 Av/53 St, use nearby   stations at 57 St or 47-50 St-Rockefeller Ctr. 
  • For service to/from 7 Av, take the 
  • For service to/from 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal, 34 St-Penn Station, 23 St, or 14 St, take the   or use nearby   stations along Sixth Av.
  • For service to/from 50 St, use the nearby 7 Av   station.

 trains, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens

Queens-bound   trains are running on the   line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from 14 St, 23 St, 34 St-Herald Sq, 42 St-Bryant Park, 47-50 St, 57 St, and Lexington Av/63 St use nearby   stations, or take a downtown train and transfer.
  • For service to/from Roosevelt Island and 21 St-Queensbridge, take the Q66, Q69, Q100, or Q102 buses to Queens Plaza.
  • Note: Uptown   trains are running on the   line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to 59 St-Columbus Circle.

 trains are not running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in either direction from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of signal modernization work.  

  • Free F1 shuttle buses are running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av. Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
  • For direct service to/from W 8 St-NY Aquarium, take the   train.
  • For direct service to/from Coney Island-Stillwell Av, take   trains.
  •  trains are running between Jamaica-179 St and Church Av.

 trains, Brooklyn and Queens

 trains are not running between Crescent St and Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station improvement work.

  • Free J90 shuttle buses are running between Crescent St and 121 St, connecting to Jamaica-Van Wyck  . Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
  • When exiting at Crescent St or Jamaica-Van Wyck, see a station employee to request a GO ticket for re-admittance to the subway at no additional cost.
  • For service to/from Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport and Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer, take the  .
  • For direct service to JFK Airport, transfer to a Howard Beach-bound   train at Broadway Junction for service to Howard Beach-JFK Airport.
  •  trains are running between Broad St and Crescent St.

Other service changes

 trains, Queens

Manhattan-bound trains are running on the express track from Mets-Willets Pt to 74 St-Broadway from 3:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday because of station improvement work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Flushing-bound train.
  • Reminder: The Manhattan-bound platforms at 111 St and 82 St-Jackson Hts are closed 24/7 through Fall 2023 for rehabilitation work.

 trains, Queens

Queens-bound   trains are running on the express track from Queens Plaza to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station improvement work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.
  • Reminder: Queens-bound   trains are running on the   line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av.
  • Reminder: Queens-bound   trains end at Queens Plaza after 9:45 p.m., and don't run in Queens at all overnight.

 trains, Manhattan and Brooklyn

 and   trains are running on the   line between Canal St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr in both directions from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  •  and  trains will make all   stops between Canal St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.
  • Reminder: At Canal St, board   and  trains on the   platform.

Metro-North Railroad service changes

New Canaan Branch

Trains are not running between New Canaan and Stamford in either direction 24/7 through Friday, September 1 because of track maintenance and bridge repair work.
