Penn Station Elevator Closure

MTA is continuing to improve and transform Penn Station. Starting on Tuesday, August 24, the platform elevator serving Long Island Rail Road tracks 20 and 21 is being replaced with more modern, reliable equipment and will be temporarily out of service for a period of six months. Access between the Concourse and the platform is still available via chair lift. See map below for the directions to the stairway with the chair lift to the platform.

At the chair lift, please push the Attendant Call Button for assistance.
In case of Emergency, please call MTA Police at 212-643-5075.

About the LIRR Concourse Project

In addition to the replacement of the LIRR platform elevator, the LIRR Concourse Project includes significant accessibility enhancements to Penn Station, including a brand-new elevator serving both LIRR and NYCT customers and the replacement of three additional existing NYCT elevators. The LIRR Concourse project will also widen the corridors, raise the ceilings, improve lighting and air flow, enhance retail options, and more — for a better Penn Station experience.
