Subway and rail service changes: October 21-24

There are service changes on the subway, LIRR, and Metro-North this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.
Updated October 21, 2022 9:00 a.m.

Did you know that there are hundreds of museum-quality works of art throughout our transit system? Soon, pieces by Yayoi Kusama and Kiki Smith will be on view at Grand Central Madison as part of the MTA Arts & Design program. But you can see a diverse array of works — murals, stained glass, sculptures, photos, and more — on view now at many subway and rail stations. We may be biased, but a fun weekend activity is going gallery-hopping, except at subway stations. (Our recommendation: The installation of artifacts from the Brooklyn Museum at the Eastern Pkwy-Brooklyn Museum  stop.)

But you're not only here for recommendations for things to do — you're here for the service changes. Here's what's going on this weekend:

  •  trains aren't running between Inwood-207 St and 168 St
  •  trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and Times Sq-42 St
  •  trains aren't running between Prospect Park and Coney Island-Stillwell Av
  •  trains are rerouted on the   and   lines in Manhattan
  •  trains aren't running between St. George and Eltingville

For more detailed breakdowns, keep on scrolling — we’ve also got travel alternatives for stations that will be closed or skipped.

And don't forget to sign up for the MTA Weekender, a newsletter sent every Friday. You'll get these service changes directly in your inbox, with more than enough time to plan your weekend travel. Subscribe here
