Subway and rail service changes: November 4-7

There are service changes on the subway, LIRR, and Metro-North this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.
Updated November 4, 2022 9:00 a.m.

The days are getting shorter, the weather is getting chillier, and it's almost time to set our clocks back for the end of daylight saving time. (It changes Sunday at 2 a.m. — don't forget!).

There's another big event happening this weekend: The TCS New York City Marathon, which happens Sunday and is undoubtedly one of the best days of the year in NYC. If you're participating, remember that the  isn’t stopping at Whitehall St this weekend. So if you’re going to the Ferry from Brooklyn, transfer to the at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr; if you’re coming from uptown or Queens, transfer to the at Times Sq-42 St. Here's a map highlighting all important service changes for the weekend.

If you're planning to cheer on friends and loved ones, the subway will be the best way to get to your viewing spot. Many buses along the marathon route will be detoured or partially suspended while runners do their thing, so it's best to avoid taking the bus if you can. If you can't, check for detours before you head out with our Planned Service Changes lookup tool.

Whatever you do this weekend, you'll want to know about service changes before you head out. Here's what's going on:

  •  trains aren't running at all between 207 St and 168 St, and   trains aren't running between 168 St and 145 St.
  • During the day on Saturday,  trains are only running in Brooklyn (between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Coney Island-Stillwell Av).  In the Bronx, trains are running on the line between 145 St and Norwood-205 St.
  •  trains aren't running in lower Manhattan.
  •  trains aren't running between Prospect Park and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

For more detailed breakdowns, keep on scrolling — we’ve also got travel alternatives for stations that will be closed or skipped.

And don't forget to sign up for the MTA Weekender, a newsletter sent every Friday. You'll get these service changes directly in your inbox, with more than enough time to plan your weekend travel. Subscribe here
