Subway and rail service changes: March 17-20

There are service changes on the subway and Long Island Rail Road this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.
Updated March 17, 2023 10:00 a.m.

Hello, and welcome to the weekend!

We've got an important heads-up about long-term work happening on the   lines in Queens:

Starting tonight, evening service is changing as we begin the next phase of our CBTC signal modernization project along Queens Blvd. After 9:30 p.m., Queens-bound  trains will end at Queens Plaza, and  trains will make local stops in Queens, daily. This is because we need to use the express tracks along western Queens Blvd to store trains overnight while we upgrade signals between Kew Gardens-Union Tpke and Jamaica-179 St. trains will resume regular service every morning between 5 and 6 a.m.

If you're riding the   line this weekend, you might notice we've made an upgrade! Our newest addition to the subway fleet, the R211, is now in service. The train features wider doors, more accessible seating areas, improved digital screens, and more. Learn more.

And now, here's your weekend summary:

  •  trains aren't running between Manhattan and the Bronx
  •  trains aren't running at all
