Metro-North to Increase Service on Hudson, Harlem & New Haven Lines, June 21, 2021

As New York City, the Hudson Valley, and Connecticut continue to reopen, we’re adding 24 additional peak trains to our Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven Lines.

Whether you are traveling to Grand Central Terminal during the morning rush or making your way home after a long day, we have you covered.

Off-peak fares are still in effect.

Hudson Line

Inbound and Outbound

Morning peak service will increase from 18 to 22 trains, while afternoon peak service will increase from 17 to 21 trains, for a total of 8 additional trains. Here are the changes:

  • Two round-trip trains will be added between Croton-Harmon and Grand Central Terminal, making all stops between Croton-Harmon and Hastings-on-Hudson, then Yonkers, Harlem-125th St and Grand Central.
  • Two round-trip trains will be added between Poughkeepsie and Grand Central Terminal, making all stops between Poughkeepsie and Croton-Harmon before operating express to Harlem-125th St and Grand Central. 

Harlem Line

Both morning and afternoon peak service will increase from 21 to 25 trains, for a total of 8 additional trains. Here are the changes:

Inbound

  • Two additional southbound trains will stop at all stations between Crestwood and Mt. Vernon West, then at Fordham, Harlem-125th St and Grand Central Terminal.
  • Two inbound trains will be added between Southeast and Grand Central Terminal, making all station stops between Southeast and Mt. Kisco, then operating express to Harlem-125th St and Grand Central.

Outbound

  • An additional outbound train will stop at Harlem-125th St, making all stops between Mt. Vernon West and Crestwood stations.
  • A second outbound train will stop at Harlem-125th St, then operate express to Crestwood, Scarsdale, Hartsdale, White Plains, and North White Plains stations.
  • Two outbound trains will be added between Grand Central Terminal and Southeast, stopping at Harlem-125th St, then operating express to White Plains and making all local stops to Southeast. 

New Haven Line

Both morning and afternoon peak service will increase from 22 to 26 trains, for a total of 8 additional trains. Here are the changes:

Inbound

  • Two local trains from Stamford to Grand Central Terminal will be added:
  • The first train will operate from Stamford to Greenwich, making all stops to Larchmont and then operating express to Harlem-125th St and Grans Central.
  • A second train will operate from Harrison to Grand Central Terminal, making stops at Mamaroneck, Larchmont, and Harlem-125th St.
  • The 7:20 a.m. Grand Central Terminal-bound local train from Stamford will make additional stops at Old Greenwich, Riverside, and Cos Cob. It will not stop at Harrison, Mamaroneck, and Larchmont. Those stations will be served by one of the added trains.
  • Two trains from New Haven to Grand Central Terminal will be added on weekday mornings, stopping at all stations between New Haven and Fairfield, then running express to Stamford, Harlem-125th St and Grand Central. 

Outbound

  • In the afternoon, two Stamford-bound trains will be added from Grand Central Terminal, stopping at Harlem-125th St, then operating express to New Rochelle before making all stops to Stamford.
  • Two New Haven-bound trains will be added from Grand Central Terminal, stopping at Harlem-125th St, then operating express to Stamford, followed by all stops to New Haven. 

These service increases build on the April 12 timetable that added New Haven Line trains and restored weekend service to Wassaic.
